Actually the last coins with silver were the Kennedy Half Dollars minted from 1965-1969 with 40% silver content. The silver coins minted BEFORE 1965 contained 90% silver. The last silver coin that actually circulated was the 5 francs, minted till 1969 and replace in 1970 by the CuNi version. I remember very well as a kid looking for those coins at the grocery and collecting them.
